Gospel Radio Latin America was 50 years old in 2022!
God began La Palabra de Vida in 1972 when He called missionary James Denman to preach the Gospel of Christ to the
Spanish speaking people of Latin America through the medium of radio.
In 1965, after a short visit to Mexico, Brother Denman first heard the calling of God on his life to preach the gospel to the
native, Mexican people there. At the time, he was pastoring the Brown Trail Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. He came
back from that little visit determined to follow God’s calling on his life. He immediately resigned from the church and in
January, 1967 he and his wife and 4 young children moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. While there, many
indigenous churches were started.
In 1972, after a medical issue with one his children, the family moved to Ft Worth, Texas and God had him begin Gospel
Radio Latin America, with the program, “La Palabra De Vida”. The first station on which the program was aired was
KGBT Radio in Harlingen, Texas. It was a thirty-minute program with music and evangelistic preaching. That format has
never changed.
There have only been three preachers as voices of La Palabra de Vida in its 52 year existence: Pastor Mack Guerra,
followed by Brother Cadena, and now, the current preacher and voice of the program: Pastor Elias Enriquez, who resides
in Toluca, Mexico.
This ministry is solely supported by churches and individuals who feel called by God to help spread the gospel of Christ
around the world.
Mrs. Denman went home to be with Jesus in June of 2020. Brother Denman passed away on March 2, 2022; on the 66 th
anniversary of their wedding, at the same moment in time, they would have been saying “I do” to each other. 66 years
earlier. It was a glorious reunion!
Since then his son, Stan Denman, himself also a pastor of a local church, picked up the reigns and is moving the
ministry forward, just as his dad wished it to be. Many great things are in store for this ministry and the millions of lives
it touches weekly with gospel.
Thank you for your support and prayers!
